As the leader in the computerized mat cutting industry, Wizard International's primary goal is to provide innovative and affordable tools to increase efficiency and enhance finished product quality for custom frame shops. With wide spread rental success, there are now more Wizard machines in use worldwide than all other CMC competitors combined. Wizard has been using igus Energy Chains and accessories for more than 15 years, but has always taken on the task of harnessing the cables and cable carrier themselves. While the company has the manpower and talent to perform such a job, the skills and time of their engineers could be better spent elsewhere. So when the company redesigned its flagship product, it also purchased its first igus ReadyChain. More than 140 machines are produced per month and the average price tag is $16,000 per machine. The Wizard ReadyChain is comprised of a lightweight, low-cost System E2 micro chain and three Chainflex continuous-flex cables. It’s a little more than 3 feet in length, moving slowly at less than one foot per second. It also includes a special metal mounting bracket. With ReadyChain, Wizard saved almost 1/3 rd of the cost of building the Energy Chain Systems and freed up a week’s worth of manpower. Walt Krein, Wizard International R&D Engineer, expressed his satisfaction with igus and ReadyChain. “We analyzed all the ways we could cut costs and streamline manufacturing time when we redesigned our mat cutter. ReadyChain was an obvious choice. Not only do we save valuable manpower and reduce engineering and purchasing costs, but we improve the quality of our product," said Krein. "Igus is the expert when comes to cable carrier and harnessing. While our engineers can perform the job adequately, it isn’t their specialty. With ReadyChain, we leave the specialty to the specialists.” To learn more about Wizard International, visit www.wizardint.com. |
