Energy Tubes from igus shield cables and hoses from the harm of hot chips and debris

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – May 22, 2007 – Igus® Inc., the industry-leading developer of Energy Chain® cable carriers and Chainflex® continuous-flex cables, offers Energy Tubes—fully enclosed carriers—that prevent damage to cables and hoses in applications where hot chips and flying debris are prevalent. Due to their test-proven strength and durability, Energy Tubes prolong the life of cables and hoses, as well as reduce installation time and costly maintenance.

All Energy Tubes feature removable or snap-open lids to enable easy cable access at each link along the carrier. When closed, these lids connect and lay flat creating a completely enclosed system for maximum protection. For customers requiring a smaller solution, igus also offers a micro Energy Tube with a zipper-like design. Each lid is interconnected to behave like a “zipper,” but also can be separated at any point along the carrier if needed.

Energy Tubes also safeguard cables and hoses against disintegration, abrasion and other unwanted damage, significantly reducing downtime. Most Energy Tubes are made from igumid G, a high-performance plastic, which is maintenance-free, corrosion-free and capable of deflecting debris with temperatures up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit.

Igus Energy Tubes are available in hundreds of sizes and styles such as System E2, which is space-efficient, cost-effective and can be used in high-speed applications or anywhere quiet operation is paramount. For customers with extreme temperature applications, igus also offers Energy Tubes made of igumid HT, which repels debris reaching 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Like igus’ entire family of Energy Chain cable carriers, Energy Tubes are an ideal partner for Chainflex continuous-flex cables. To request free samples of Energy Tube or Chainflex, call (800) 521-2747 to speak with a design technician.
