AMTREN CORPORATON in Montgomery, Ala. is a leading provider of optical disc publishing and printing solutions. The company uses a DryLin® N low-profile linear guide system in its line of FlexWriter publishers. The Flexwriter Series, which features automated disc handling, high-capacity CD/DVD writers and a high-quality direct-to-disc full color label printer, is offered in eight models covering the entire market range from entry level users to mission-critical high-end models.

DryLin N enables the direct-to-disc printing portion of the Flexwriter unit to feed in and out. This task is essential to critical image registration, the part of color-on-disc process which produces sharp images and brilliant colors. AMTREN believes this feature is one of the strengths of the FlexWriter, both in quality and performance.

DryLin N’s low-profile, easy-to-assemble and easy-to-install features were a big selling point for AMTREN. “DryLin N replaced a linear bearing on shafting in the product,” said John Klein, AMTREN’s project manager for the printer. “The company made the switch because DryLin N was less complicated and increased the dependability of an already high-quality printer.”

DryLin N is expected to perform 500,000 cycles on the AMTREN machines without maintenance. The low-profile linear guide systems are lubrication-free, lightweight and feature wear-resistant carriages made of igus’ iglide ® J plastic material.

These qualities make DryLin N an excellent component for the Flexwriter Series, which offers advanced hardware technology complemented by FlexWare, a one-panel, integrated software platform. The FlexWriter is manufactured to the highest quality standards, which are carefully controlled using the industry’s only assembly line process, making it one of the preeminent printers on the market today.
