Eastman used igubal®, a spherical bearing from igus® Inc., in a safety feature on an automated cutting machine that stops the machine when the yellow paddles encounter an obstruction. Prior to using the igubal, the machine employed a method of applying pressure that had to collapse to stop the machine.

The spherical bearing provides angular misalignment and eliminates maintenance.
