A new design for a single point adjustment in the Kesmac Reel Mower prompted the company to find an ideal bearing solution. Kesmac chose igus® Inc. and its line of iglide® plastic bearings for the reel mower.

The adjuster rod and knob in the mower must thread through a pivot mounted to the frame. This pivoting piece must hold its axial position and be able to have smooth uninhibited rotation. Vibrations caused by the rotating wheel needed dampening and the bearing needed to be corrosion resistant to combat the harsh fertilizers and moisture from dew on the grass. Grass clippings also create a very corrosive environment. Must be oil-free so oil will not drip on freshly cut grass.

The flange design of iglide G300 enabled the pivot to be tightened to the frame, to ensure a snug fit and control of the rotation. Iglide is lubrication-free, and completely resistant to corrosion.
