Visual Packaging uses an automatic product feeder that has eight lanes of product being fed to a blister-sealing machine. Parts were mis-feeding and jamming in the product chute. The product feeder had so many problems that the customer had to load it by hand. Because the application involves food, other linear bearing solutions could not be used. The environment had to be absolutely maintenance-free due of FDA regulations.

In order to solve this problem, a gated product chute was added using a DryLin N low profile linear guide from igus. DryLin N was chosen for its compact size, short lead time and low cost, as well as its lubrication-free properties. The system has been installed at the customer plant and is working flawlessly.
