Linear bearings and guides used in sports and fitness equipment

Change bearing now and reduce costs by up to 40%

McFit, Fitness First or Kieser Training – currently, far more than ten million members are working out in German gyms, and the trend is rising. Statistics show that the services used most in gyms are fitness devices for weight training and cardio machines. Always in the focus: ergonomic and smooth movements. To adjust sitting position, weights and inclination of the devices, we recommend bearings and linear systems by igus®. They are comfortable to handle and work almost silently as they operate without balls. Especially at large sports facilities with several hundred exercise machines, it is important that noise generation is minimal. No less important: igus® products are lubrication-free. After all, no gym member wants to get dirty hands or oil marks on their stylish gym outfit. In any case, for professional use exercise machines have to withstand continuous operation on a daily basis, whether they are adjusted manually or electronically at the push of a button. Light, quiet and soft movements ... over and over again and with running performances of several hours a day.

drylin® and iglide® application examples

Some of the most popular exercise technologies for weight training include leg curl and extension devices, butterfly and latissimus traction machines. drylin® W linear guides and iglide® bearings are reliable solutions for these devices. The linear guides are ideal for simple and quiet height adjustments of the pad for leg training. Double profiles and carriages are also useful, as they are easy to mount, self-lubricating and maintenance-free. For the joints of the butterfly and latissimus machines, iglide® G300 and M250 bearings are recommended. No matter where in the machine they are used, they remain corrosion-resistant, quiet-running and long-lasting.

Rowing machines are great for exercising the cardiovascular system. Both rotating and pivoting joints in the machines can move easily with igus® bearings. drylin® linear guides installed in the machines are completely self-lubricating, and their double-shaft aluminum profile is lightweight with high torsion resistance. Linear systems also ensure that the seat slides quietly without causing friction.

Finding the right seating position in cardio machines such as home trainers or ergometers is important to avoid straining knee joints. With igus® products, seat distances and height adjustments can be done in seconds. Linear profiles, complete carriages or single bearings from the drylin® W toolkit offer an ideal solution for every machine model. For automatic adjustments, igus® energy chains and cables ensure failsafe operation in every installation space, even with the tightest bending radii.
