Weight-saving suspension forks crucial for win

With a winning margin of 41 seconds, German mountain biker Sabine Spitz won the gold medal in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Her bike weighed just 16 pounds, due in part to its lightweight MAGURA Durin Race suspension fork.

The suspension fork uses four iglide® J plastic bushings, which are around five times lighter than metallic bearings of the same size.

Plastic bushings made from this material are ideal, because this application calls for extreme wear resistance and precision.

On the extreme Olympic track in the Laoshan Velodrome, the plastic bushings defied constant impacts, edge loads, and dirt.
