Linear guides for bottling machines

“We needed a small, lightweight and cost-effective component which igus® was able to provide. The compact design and lightweight plastic works well in our machines.”

Four cases a minute, 24 hours a day

One packaging equipment company uses maintenance-free drylin® W linear guides in a custom packaging machine that boxes up four cases of plastic bottles per minute, 24 hours a day. The linear guides replace standard slotted brackets and act as a vertical guide for the machine’s grabbing device.

The company also uses drylin® W linear guides on a pneumatic arm in a pick-and-place mechanism used to package toner cartridges. They were integrated due to their resistance to the acidic toner and low maintenance requirements.

Cost savings include both the initial purchasing cost and reduced maintenance costs: No lubrication is required for the linear systems.

Quick assembly

The drylin® W system was developed to promote design flexibility and quick assembly in both single- and double-rail configurations. The linear rails are made from hard-anodized aluminum.

The self-lubricating liner is injection molded from igus®’ high-performance plastic, iglide® J, to which the linear guides attribute several benefits: a low coefficient of friction, dirt- and dust-resistance and dry-running operation.

drylin® W linear guides deliver long life in demanding applications and are available from stock for faster delivery.
