Duchesne Academy students used igubal® spherical bearings on their robot for the BEST™ (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics Competition. This year’s game, titled Laundry Quandary, challenged participants to build a robot capable of hanging and removing “wet” and “dry” bandanas from a series of clotheslines. In order to make their robot a cut above the rest, the students designed it to place two pieces of laundry on the clothesline and remove up to three pieces at one time, instead of just one. Igubal pillow blocks were used to improve the stability of the robot’s caster wheels. Igubal spherical bearings are a self-aligning, self-lubricating, maintenance-free alternative to metal and bronze bushings. They are available in spherical, pillow block, rod end, flange and clip styles. Duchesne Academy placed 3rd at the local Space City competition. |
