Canadian students from the Ecole De Technologie Superieure used an Energy Chain® Cable Carrier System with Chainflex® cables on their robot for the 2004 SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Robot Systems Challenge. The team, known as Walking Machine ETS, designed and built the robot to perform various tasks. The students used Energy Chain to house and protect the Chainflex cables that run from the center of the robot towards the linear actuators. The students also used iglide® plastic bearings to replace standard bronze bushings. Iglide bearings allowed the team to reduce the overall weight of its robot to meet crucial competition constraints. At the competition, the school placed an impressive 4th out of 22 teams.
