Project: Build a scotch yoke system
|
||||||||
Two students from Hoover High School learned about igus®’ Y.E.S. (Young Engineers Support) Program while competing in the BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics Competition and decided to take advantage of the company’s free donations for another school project. The pair used iglide® A200 plastic plain bearings and a DryLin® N low-profile linear guide system on a scotch yoke system, which converts rotational energy into linear energy in order to vary the results of a standard spring-mass system. Both igus components greatly reduced friction and optimized the yoke’s performance. |
