In order to win any competition, a team must be able to get over the hurdles along the way. This is old news to the Naples High School FIRST Team of Naples, NY. Their robotic contribution was just that – a hurdler. With the aid of Energy Chain® cable carriers, donated by igus®, the robot was able to pick up the trackballs, lift them with a forklift and drop them over the overpass. The robot was also designed to place the balls atop the platforms to score extra points.

With its smooth, quiet flexibility, the Energy Chain protected cables that provided uninterrupted power transmission to the motors and sensors as the lift raised and lowered, all over the Finger Lakes Regional course. Naples High School was a finalist in the Finger Lakes Regional FIRST Competition.
