Palo Verde High School has been involved with FIRST Robotics for four years with great success. The team has nearly 100 members and spends its spare time mentoring FIRST rookie teams.

This year, the Palo Verde team built a robot, known as Jackpot, to compete in a basketball-like challenge called Aim High. The students used donated igubal® pillow blocks and rod ends from igus® to create a roller system equipped with an elevator that enabled foam game balls to move up or down. The team reported that its robot delivered an excellent performance, in part because of its reduced weight with the igus plastic bearings.
