Students from Pascack Hills High School entered their second year of competition with FIRST Robotics for the 2005/2006 season. The team built Clyde the robot for this year’s FIRST challenge titled Aim High – a basketball-like event where student-operated robots score points by shooting foam balls into goals set on and above the game field.

The Pascack team used iglide® flange bearings, igubal® spherical bearings and rod ends and DryLin® S aluminum shafting on Clyde. The donated igus® products served various purposes on the robot, specifically in a tensioning system for a conveyer belt that transports balls into the robot’s hopper.

Phil Paspaslas, head coach for Pascack Hills’ FIRST team, said, “Because of the low friction coefficient, ease of installation and lightweight features, igus parts made it much easier to design and fabricate the various systems on our robot.”

Pascack Hills came placed 40 th among 63 teams at the New Jersey regional and also took home the Judges Award. To learn more about the Pascack Hills FIRST team, visit www.team1676.com.
