During the summer of 2007, students from Queens University will set off on a 2,500-mile race in their student-designed and student-built solar vehicle known as Ultraviolet. The biannual competition starts in Texas, with the finishing line located in the university’s home of Canada.

Queens University students used donated Drylin® R linear bearings to properly position the slider bar on the steering wheel with respect to the chassis and the lead screw, which are being used to effect four-wheel steering on the car. The team decided to use DryLin R bearings over alternative solutions because they are easy to install, as well as maintenance- and lubrication-free. DryLin R also can withstand the dirt, mud and salt that the Queens car will be exposed throughout its journey.

The team is currently busy putting the final touches on its vehicle and practicing for the impending race. To find out more about the Queens University Solar Car Team, please visit www.qsvt.ca.
