Engineers, students and people from all walks of life used Chainflex® continuous-flex cables on a solar vehicle named Xof1. Almost all of the wiring was donated by igus® and was used in the car’s battery connections. Chainflex enabled the team to create an “umbilical cord” for the car’s solar panel. With Chainflex, the team has the ability to open the hood and recharge its solar panel during a probable tour around Canada. If their expedition is approved, the group will travel over 14,500 miles in an attempt to set a new world record in solar car distance travel. Seneca College took the car for a test drive with great success. Every component worked as expected and the team is very proud of its accomplishments. The participants also had the opportunity to feature their creation of a number of TV spots, such as Breakfast Television. The group’s overall objective is to develop and build a solar car to set a world distance record, while at the same time, inspiring others to benefit mankind and the environment.
