For a class project, engineering students at the University of Florida used iglide® plastic bearings to add compliance to a rotary cutting tool. The bearings allowed the students to simulate the condition of hand-free cutting, while actually controlling the motion of the tool on a CNC machine. Professor Tim Dalrymple reported the iglide bearings, “worked extremely well for my students.” The team was excited to produce a fully functioning project and hopes future UF students will take advantage of the free products offered by igus®. |
