In 2005, igus unvieled the Y.E.S. (Young Engineers Support) Program, designed to foster the mechanical design ideas and inventions of students who have a passion for engineering. The program aims to not only support students and engineers, but also educate them on the merits and benefits of plastic components. The program offers free donations to students and engineering competitions across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The benefits of the Y.E.S. Program are boundless for both igus and young engineers. Igus enjoys helping students transform their design ideas into reality and looks forward to learning about the creative ways its products are incorporated into those designs. Students are saying Y.E.S. to the program as well, and thanks to igus, many students will be able to improve the performance and functionality of their projects without breaking the bank. Many students have implemented igus products in unique and interesting ways. To see how igus products have been used, visit Student Projects. “Igus has long been dedicated to helping students with an inclination towards engineering,” said Carsten Blase, vice president of igus. “With the Y.E.S. program, we are formalizing that support. We are impressed with the various ways students have already used our products and we are looking forward to the future of the program.” Igus currently sponsors students working on various projects such as robots, boats, solar powered vehicles and CNC routers, just to name a few. Igus has also built partnerships with organizations such as FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics and BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics. To learn more about either of these partnerships, visit the News Room. Igus looks forward to continually supporting the endeavors of students and encourages universities, colleges and schools to take advantage of the Y.E.S. Program. Igus also welcomes inquiries from organizations hosting design and robotics competitions that are seeking products and sponsors. If you have questions about the Y.E.S. Program, please contact ctoomey@igus.com. If you are a student or professor who would like to request igus products for use on a project or in the classroom, please visit Request Info/Parts.
