E4/light ESD - low weight, large interior space
and cost-effective with a compromise
in thickness. The
system E4/light properties appear in two places: a reduced
thickness of the side links (for all types), and a thinner
crossbar for Series 14240. E4/light e-chains® achieve optimum price and performance solutions for many industries.
Especially for short travels,
hanging and short, standing designs.
E4/light types are often first choice.
Typical industries and applications
Available inner widths Bi: 75 to 300 mmAvailable bending radii R: 150 to 250 mmPitch: 91 mm/link = 11 links / m
* The required clearance height is HF = H + 2.36 in. (60 mm) (with 2.02 lbs/ft (3 kg/m) fill weight), this should be taken into account for all application types. Please contact us if you have particularly narrow space conditions.
** The calculated length corresponds to the chain length without mounting brackets.
A=Moving end, B=Fixed end
Pitch per link: = 3.58” (91 mm)
Links per ft (m): = 3.35 (11)
For center mount applications:
Chain length = s/2 +K
The unsupported length versus fill weightX axis: Unsupported length in m FLB/FLG
Y axis: Fill weight in kg/ft
Lower scale: Travel S in ft
FLB = Unsupported with permissible sagFLG = Unsupported with straight upper run
The diagrams for unsupported lengths
apply to standard e-chains® in igumid GLW material. The values
can also be used for assessing e-chain® applications
in ESD special material.
If the respective maximum unsupported length exceeds 80%, the suitability of the e-chain® should be verified by a practice-oriented test.
from 12 m to max. 250 mChain length= S/2+K2Long travels - gliding (up to max. 250 m) Here, the e-chain® upper runs gliding on the lower run in a guide trough. We recommend letting our engineers support you when planning this type of system. In case of travel lengths between 9,0 and 12 m, we recommend a larger unsupported e-chain®.

"Super-aluminium" trough - the igus® standard for guide troughs
The "Super" aluminium trough is a modular system of guide troughs for long travels (where e-chains® are gliding on top of themselves). The basic "Super" aluminium trough has a simple and cost-efficient designs and can be expanded for sophisticated plant engineering.
Its universal design makes it the recommended igus® standard for guide troughs.
