Thrust Bearings from xiros®: Lightweight & Maintenance-free

Maintenance-free thrust ball bearings designed for axial loads

xiros® thrust bearings are made of xirodur® high-performance polymers which lead to a significant weight reduction when compared to metal ball bearings. Their vibration-dampening capability is up to 250 times that of metallic bearings and provides for smooth-running and excellent wear rates. As neither external lubrication nor general maintenance is required, these thrust bearings work well in a variety of applications, whether medical cleanroom equipment, dirty and dusty packaging environments or even FDA compliant food contact.

How is a xiros® thrust bearing designed?

xiros® thrust bearings consist of an outer and inner race, as well as the cage, which are all made of xirodur® high performance polymers. The plastic material is dry-running due to microscopic lubricating particles embedded inside the polymers. The rolling elements, or balls, are made of stainless steel or glass depending on the application they are intended for. Further properties include:

  • Corrosion resistant
  • Non-magnetic (when used with glass balls)
  • Chemical-resistant
The dimensions of xiros® thrust bearings are based on the DIN 711 standard. Thrust bearings are available as single and double-row deep groove ball bearings. The double-row thrust bearings are intended for higher axial loads.
