Unsupported short travels: low noise applications

Minimize noise levels with igus® cable carriers

Minimize noise levels with igus® cable carriers. If you want to reduce the level of noise emitted by your machinery, take a look at the table below, which briefly illustrates the differences in noise between different energy chain cable carriers. In addition to the type of cable carrier, the running surface, dynamics, and cable and hose package play a role in the overall noise generation. Have igus® specialists design in the quietest energy chain for your application.

cable carrier
System E3 - low-noise, 38 dB(A)

Long-term tests in the igus® acoustic laboratory showed reductions of 19-20 db(A) compared with standard energy chain cable carriers, measured at a speed of 5.9 ft/s and an acceleration of 9.84 ft/s² (3 m/s²). Figure determined in the igus® laboratory in accordance with DIN 45635, taking into consideration background noises for Series E3.22.060.044.0.

Low noise System E6 cable carriers
System E6 ≤ 46 dB(A)

A measurement conducted by the Rhineland Technical Inspection Authority (TÜV Rheinland) in May 2002 indicated a value of ≤ 46 dB(A) at 6.56 ft/s (2 m/s) and with an unsupported length of 4.92 ft (1.5 m) with Series E6.52.10.100.0 - and all this with at least 10 dB(A) sound pressure level generated by external noise.

Low noise cable carriers
System E4 - 46 dB(A)

A measurement by the Rhineland Technical Inspection Authority (TÜV Rheinland) for System E4/101, Series 221.10.200.0, indicates a value of 46 dB(A) at 4.92 ft/s (1.5 m/s) with an unsupported length.

A reduction of 3 dB(A) sounds like a 50% reduction in noise level to the human ear
