This paddle-wheel stacker is used for the intermediate storage of bauxite outdoors and can be moved linearly over a distance of around 1,083 feet horizontally. Despite the long distance and rough conditions caused by the bauxite dust and stones, the equipment has to be supplied reliably with data, various media and power. This was achieved with the aid of an igus® heavy-duty roller chain which is also in a position to pick up and guide a DN40 water hose 656 feet long. The outer chain fittings prevent the fine bauxite dust being deposited in the side belts and thus increases the availability of the overall system.
