A reputable European aircraft company is responsible for testing the jet engines of passenger planes. In the event of a brake malfunction at maximum thrust, the wheels of the airplanes are additionally kept in place by large steel brake flaps. Each brake flap weighs over 770 lbs and extends out from the concrete base by way of a drive mechanism. For the main bearing of this drive mechanism, iglide® H plastic plain flanged bushings are used. These are particularly suited to this application, as they are resistant to water, dirt and temperature and are also maintenance-free.
