e-chain systems® for Cranes

Benefits and special igus® solutions for crane builders and users

Speeds up to 600 m/min possible, fastest cranes are running with 300 m/min

Space-saving design - reduced length and height

No additional drives or control system necessary

Can be used together with all media - power, data, air, water, etc.

Low maintenance

Wind and weather resistant

Other lines and cables can be added easily (e.g. chainflex® fibre optics)

Fast assembly

Possible travel up to 800 m with igus® Rol e-chain®, longest travel in operation on ship shore cranes for the main power supply is 500 m

Possible reduction of cable length >50%

No maintenance platform or loop station required

Overall steel structure can be shortened

Function of e-chain systems® at long travels:

crane energy solutions "No loops" Optic at ship to shore Crane The upper and lower run of the chain are guided on top of each other in a special guide trough. At the half of the stroke, the upper run glides precisely over the lower run. At the other half, the chain glides on top of a wear-resistant glidebar, installed at the same height.

Many applications require special solutions. We offer support in design and production.

Some examples:

crane energy solutions Crane with lifted boom

Housings:

igus® offers special customized housings for protection of the readychains® against severe weather conditions.
crane energy solutions Connection for swivelpoint for installation on top of bridge girder

Hinge point guide trough:

Port cranes are equipped with a lifting boom. To make sure that the boom and the girder sides of the crane are connected without misalignment of the guide trough, igus® has developed a special fixing for the swivel point. This means that the chain can run on top, beside or below the crane girder.
crane readychain® Floating moving arm for readychains® on ship-to-shore cranes

Floating moving arm:

This device is used to compensate for the lateral mismatch between trolley travelling path and crane travelling path and the readychains®. New: Electronic push/pull-force control with permanent nominal/actual parameter check and/or emergency stop function.
crane guide trough Guide trough with downholding device

Downholding devices:

readychains® operate safely on long travels and at high acceleration. The retention device prevents the readychains® from climbing when the crane accelerates.
