Helix3D hip joint system
This newly developed prosthesis hip reduces the amount of energy required for walking, as it compensates for a large portion of absent muscles. With standard prostheses, patients have to lift their prosthetic leg in order to avoid obstacles. Helix3D enables a cushioned and controlled gait, as well as a harmonious roll-over on the foot while under full load. This is possible because the system, unlike standard prostheses, creates three-dimensional movement.
The forces occurring in the prosthesis under oscillating motion must also be transferred without creating wear. To meet these demands, four iglide® Z bearings were used on the two main axes.
