Two factors were considered in the selection of the products mounted on the Formula Student racing car of Team Running Snail of the Amberg-Weiden University: the weight and the utility. Since the chassis was first constructed for the 2015 season, we looked for a solution for mounting the chassis stabilizer, whose function was to swing both axes.
Thus we printed a bearing in a 3D printer using iglide® Tribo-Filament, machined a bit, and then glued on. Compared to a welded alternative, it could save both weight and workload. In addition we achieved the necessary tolerances. The printed bearing could hold without failure already for one year. Numerous igubal® and iglide® bearings and a drylin® rail are also installed in the pedals.
