The challenge: Cable and hose management for a laser-controlled system. The control desk can be raised by air bearings. One 3-phase AC cable, two data cables and a pneumatic hose must be routed over a length of around 7.5 metres to the central control unit. This makes handling the laser more difficult – the cable bundle has to be pulled up without impairing the operability and free movement of the laser. In cooperation with igus®, comprehensive tests were carried out with e-chains® in combination with the e-spool® system. The results were convincing – cable guidance is now perfect.
