Conveyor unit of coal excavator
The longest known travel ever to be reached with a plastic energy chain cable carrier in the world is 2,018 feet in a power station situated in the Czech Republic. Heavy duty Rol-e-chain® cable carriers with rollers to facilitate travels over long distances - are installed on the conveyor unit of a large lignite excavator. The energy chain system, complete with reliable chainflex® continuous-flex cables, makes a significant contribution to operational safety. Since it was implemented, system down times caused by cable breakage, for example, have been eliminated.
There are an additional three energy chain cable carriers pre-harnessed with chainflex® cables installed in the plant: series 4040 with a 328 ft travel and two Rol-e-chains® each with 1,043 ft travels. These systems are mounted directly onto the excavator and safely supply energy, data and other media.
This application won the gold award in the 2010 vector competition.
