The winners of the 8th vector award 2022

Looking for bold applications with cable carrier systems and cables

Modern plastic e-chain cable carriers have been ensuring the safe, reliable supply of energy, data, signals and media while remaining in continuous motion for 50 years. They can be used universally, from cranes to machine tools, from industrial robots to laboratory technology. The energy chains and cables must be constantly reinvented to meet high demands on such items as dynamic speeds, compact installation spaces, heavy additional loads, and cleanrooms. Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions, so-called smart plastics, prepare the chains for Industry 4.0.

We would like to thank 233 participants from 36 countries who presented their innovative applications of energy chain systems to us - from mobile robotics to coastal protection and 3D printing of entire buildings to medical research. The jury of experts, consisting of research, specialist press and industry, did not have it easy this year as well. The four winners were selected together in a multi-stage voting process.

The winners

Gold vector

The gold vector

The gold vector award went to GEPBER-Szinpad Kft. for energy chain systems in the innovative HUNGEXPO multi-purpose hall. The energy chains respond smoothly to floor panel movements and allow a long service life. The chainflex cables are resistant to torsion and wear. Delivered as a pre-assembled readychain energy chain system, it was installed quickly on site.

Silver vector

The silver vector

The silver vector award went to RHENAC GreenTec AG for energy chain systems in the VELTINS Arena turf lighting system. The roller energy chains minimise push/pull forces over a travel of 120m. Other compact energy chains for short strokes in the system and matching chainflex cables can be used to achieve long service life and minimise and maintenance costs.

Bronze vector

The bronze vector

The bronze vector goes to Talwandi Sabo Power Limited, for energy chain systems in a bucket wheel device. The combination of energy chain, cables, and sensors increased plant availability, durability, and safety during operation. The plastic energy chain reduces weight, simplifies cable guidance, and saves the operator a great deal of effort and money in maintenance.

Green vector

The green vector

The green vector goes to Dercks Gartenbau GmbH for energy chain systems in precise watering trolleys with a 45m range. The safe, low-wear guidance in the energy chain allows a long service life, and the area below the cable guidance system can also be used for potted plants. The customer expects amortisation after just four years.
