Cable carriers for container cranes all over the world
Cables and strain relief save a marine application
This marine application was literally held together with tape and ties! We were glad to assist on the redesign of this chain and cable, providing design assistance and lifetime calculations.
The team onsite was using several kinds of tape to keep their operation in production until they contacted igus for information on the best solution. We provided a cost saving package that increased their production and efficiency.
Strain relief to the rescue
igus industry managers were onsite to assist on this project. After reviewing the mechanical and electrical properties necessary for the application, the project was redesigned using proper cables with correct bend radii and added strain relief.
To reduce future down times, the service life calculator was utilized with the specific environmental parameters of the project.
Cables designed for motion in the long term
17,000 trolley hours and still in operation
Decreased container throughput as a result of unplanned crane downtime can have significant financial ramifications for terminal operators.
This longspan RMG crane is equipped with a chain and cable that has been active in the field for over six years, clocking 17,000 trolley hours!
Hybrid cables combine servo & motor feedback cables for drive technology & are becoming the norm for use in servo drive systems. The fast, precise movements required benefit from having just a single cable relaying the necessary energy & signals. Learn more here.
Our line of motor, servo, signal and encoder cable assemblies comes equipped with standard industrial connectors that are ready to connect to your application. All of our cable assemblies are built similar to 24 manufacturer’s standards such as Siemens, Allen Bradley & Beckhoff. Learn more here.
