Problem
Fast food restaurants are still very popular. In order to make sales processes more effective, automation solutions have also been established here. The Korean manufacturer HNDS developed a cup sealing machine that automatically puts a lid on plastic cups. The moving parts of the machine should withstand more than 300,000 cycles. In addition, they must be able to withstand temperatures of around 100 °C. Considering the conditions in a fast food restaurant, the built-in parts must withstand moisture and oil.
Solution
Various igus® components have proven themselves to solve the corresponding requirements. The built-in thread technology, housing bearings, linear guides and plain bearings were able to assert themselves against ball bushings, conventional linear guides and ball screws that were considered as alternatives. They convinced as lightweight, low-noise and lubrication-free variants that have no problems with food. The igus® solutions are used for the nozzle parts and the cup seal. This reduced noise and vibration.
