iglide® J4 – round bar stock

iglide® J4 is a cost-efficient, low-wear material for high-volume production. It features low moisture absorption, dry-running operation, and low coefficients of friction for smooth motion in everyday mechanisms at low to medium loads.

When to use it: For economical, high-volume parts where clean running, low friction and basic media resistance are needed.
When not to use it: For higher temperatures consider J350; for maximum wear life under heavier loads consider W300.

igus® bar stock materials enable fast, flexible creation of custom components with standard tools or CNC machining. All iglide® bar stocks are self-lubricating and maintenance free, ideal for prototypes, low-volume runs, and geometries outside standard parts. igus® can also machine custom parts from bar stock with quick turnaround.

When to use bar stock:

• No matching size in the iglide® catalog
• Small quantities or special dimensions
• Tribo-optimized plastic needed for low friction and wear on a chosen counterface
• High compressive strength or elasticity required
• Rapid prototypes or design iterations
• Nonstandard or complex geometries

When not to use bar stock:

• A standard iglide® catalog bearing fits
• Very large volumes of one geometry (use standard parts or molding)
• Tribo properties not required and a non-tribo plastic suffices
