DLP 3D printing resin especially for gears: iglide® i4000
The tribo-resin iglide i4000 was developed especially for gear applications. The material is suitable for components with high precision (tooth modulus m = 0.16) and is therefore ideal for a wide range of gear applications at room temperature.
During development, special attention was paid to the mechanical characteristics relevant for gears and the material was designed accordingly. As a result, iglide i4000 offers a service life at least 3.5 times longer than conventional 3D printing resins in gear applications.
The mechanical properties are largely isotropic thanks to the photopolymerization process.
Processing instructions: As skin contact with the liquid resin must be avoided, personal protective equipment is mandatory during processing. For better processing, the bottle of resin should be shaken well before use.
By the way: In its in-house 3D printing service, igus processes its own iglide i4000 resin using the classic DLP process with a high resolution that enables detailed shapes and recesses. In addition, the UV wavelength of 385 nm can reduce excessive hardening and ensure a more precise shape.
