Safely supply energy with e-spool®®: the alternative to cable reels & spools

Secure guidance for cables & hoses

Guide many different cables within confined spaces. e-spool® uniquely combines two different energy supply systems: A standard e-chain® is guided by one roller and provides anytime the exactly correct length and tension of the energy supply system by the use of an integrated retaining spring. In the start position, the e-chain® is completely rolled up to save space. The twisterband connects the roll to the shaft block, which acts as the interface to the permanently installed cables.

When to use the e-spool® Series:

When many different cables should be routed in very confined spaces

When various media (electricity, air, fluids) need to be guided together

When not to use:

Cables with large bending radii

For very high loads that are guided vertically

Unlike sliding contacts, data cables compressed air and fluids can also be permanently connected and can even be replaced or modified at any time.

General filling rules for the e-spool®

Due to the particular mechanical stresses in an e-spool®, we recommend using igus® chainflex® cables. We also recommend that you observe the following filling rules:

Please put cables only side by side in the linear chain. Never put several cables on top of each other!!

Where possible, cables with a TPE outer jacket should be used for unshielded cables

Shielded cables should be from the CFROBOT range.

Where possible, use separators to protect cables against cross-over and abrasion against other cables.
To save space, install the separators alternately in segments positioned one behind the other.

Insert cables sorted according to diameter and/or bend radius.
Insert thin, small ones in the inside then increasingly larger ones outward

Apply strain relief on both ends of the cable. The cable tie wrap plate must not be installed in the e-chain® direction

Always install cables in the twisterband close to the axis of rotation with space on the outside.

Always install cables in the twisterband with a slight gap from the axis of rotation

Notes for installation
For applications that move horizontally, a smooth surface is needed for the
e-chain® to travel over.
