CF890 is the low-duty iguPUR control cable — the same gentle flexing duty as the PVC CF880, but with igus's oil- and cold-resistant iguPUR jacket that carries it into environments PVC can't survive. It's fully oil-resistant (per DIN EN 50363-10-2), flame-retardant, and rated for indoor and outdoor use out of direct sunlight, flexing down to -40 °C (-40 °F) and holding to -50 °C (-58 °F) static, with an e-chain® range up to +80 °C (+176 °F). It bends to a minimum 12.5 × d, handles unsupported travels up to 33 ft (10 m), and carries UL/CSA AWM and the UL-verified guarantee — the cable to specify when the motion is light but the surroundings are cold, oily, or exposed.
When to use it: Light, low-frequency flexing in cold, oily, or shaded-outdoor settings — coolant-exposed machine tools and machining units, low-temperature and cold-store equipment, and indoor/outdoor installations that PVC's oil and temperature limits rule out.
When not to use it: When you need a shield (use the shielded twin CF891), when the flexing duty rises to medium or high or needs more speed or travel (step up to PUR-jacketed CF77.UL.D), when the cable sees direct, sustained sunlight (use a UV-stable PUR or TPE cable such as CF78.UL or CF9), when the job is dry, clean, and indoor and cost matters (use PVC CF880), or when it involves continuous torsion such as a robot axis (use CFROBOT2).
Application areas: Coolant-exposed machine tools and machining units, cold-store and freezer equipment, low-temperature outdoor (shaded) installations, and indoor/outdoor handling where oil and cold rule out PVC.
