tribotape® — an anti-friction tape that is part of the iglide® product line — is the perfect solution for compact application areas that experience frequent friction and wear. igus’ anti-friction tape is available in five different iglide materials, offering a range of benefits such as wear resistance, dry-running operation, FDA-compliance, long-term heat resistance and an extensive service life. Anti-friction tape from igus® ranges from 0.50–1.21mm thick, and is available both with and without a self-adhesive back for maximum customer freedom. tribotape can also be cut with scissors to add to the ease of use and allow for near-endless possibilities.
A: tribotape is a thin iglide® anti-friction liner that creates low-wear, low-noise, dry-running sliding surfaces in tight spaces. Typical uses include lining guides, chutes, rails, machine beds, and contact edges where grease is undesirable or restricted. It is available with or without self-adhesive backing and can be cut to size.
A: Pick by environment and duty:
A: Typical overall thickness runs about 0.50 to 1.21 mm depending on material and inclusion of adhesive. Tribotape® widths range from include 20 mm and 500mm, depending on the material. Can be cut-to-size to streamline continuous runs.
A: Yes. Trim with scissors or a sharp blade for quick fit-ups and notches. For precise geometries, request igus cutting for custom widths, radii, step-cuts, and complex outlines that match your mounting surface.
A: Yes. The thin, flexible construction conforms to gentle curves and light surface irregularities. For tight radii or complex transitions, test a short section first. In high dynamics or where stress concentrates at edges, use a shallow recess or secondary retention.
A: Order with or without factory pressure-sensitive adhesive. Adhesive-back simplifies installation but has limits for temperature, chemicals, and load. In hot, wet, or heavy-duty zones, use a recess, fasteners, or an approved structural adhesive.
A: All grades are engineered for dry-running, wear-critical sliding. PV limits depend on counterface finish and speed. As a guide, A160, B160, W160 serve moderate continuous temperatures. V400 supports long-term service up to about 200 °C / 390 °F with strong media resistance. Validate on your substrate with a short in-application test.
A: Use materials matched to the stressor:
A: Yes. tribotape integrates solid lubricants for maintenance-free dry running. The iglide® polymer matrix provides damping that helps reduce structure-borne noise and vibration compared with metal or unlined surfaces, which is valuable in packaging and handling systems.
