Our galvanized steel and aluminum guide troughs are designed to support the smooth, low-friction operation of e-chain® cable carriers for up to 39 feet. They’re designed with built-in glide bars made of extremely abrasion-resistant plastic to reduce the amount of chain and cable needed for a full system. To achieve this, we establish a center mounting point to allow the e-chain® to glide over itself during the first half of travel and then over the glide bars for the second half.

Proper installation is essential for the life of your cable carrier, and igus® has a team of dedicated engineers ready to assist you every step of the way. From site inspection, to installation, to complete modernization, our team will ensure the longest possible service life for your cable carrier system. A guide trough is a physical channel designed to protect, support, and reduce friction for cable carriers. Guide troughs are commonly used in long travel applications such as cranes in ports and industrial environments.
Guide troughs:
Consider:
igus® guide troughs can be configured with lengths in 2m segments, and heights from 3.03 in – 9.29 in (77mm – 236mm) for aluminum and 2.76 in – 18.9 in (70mm – 480mm) for steel.
Glide bars are made of low-friction polymers assembled into the guide trough. Cable carriers glide upon this highly abrasion resistant material to reduce wear and noise when the fixed end of the cable carrier is in the center of travel.
