The term “low-cost robotics” refers to the rapid growth of robotic production caused by accessible, simple and affordable automation components. Similarly, the phrase Low-Cost Automation stands for a significant increase in productivity with help in the form of robotics components. Depending on the scope of the application, entire processes or even parts can be automated.
At igus®, everything you need for cost-effective process automation from a single source is provided: whole robot arms, individual components for individual solutions or to expand existing applications, and a control system suited to robolink® with intuitive software.
Thanks to the modular system, the number of required robolink® components are reduced to a minimum. This saves costs while remaining highly flexible. The typical return on investment is about 4 months of use for an articulated arm. The joints made of high-performance plastics ensure a long service life and are maintenance-free.
The robolink® system is not only modular in itself, but can also be combined with motors from other manufacturers or your own components to make automating your individual application particularly effective.
Individual applications can be implemented with the drygear® Apiro modular gearbox system in an extremely modular and cost-effective manner. Possible applications can be in packaging, food, medical and many other industries. Lane adjustments, pusher tasks, gearboxes with different gear ratios, slewing rings and rotary axes can be used there. The modular gearbox system can be motorised or used for manual adjustments.
The Apiro modular system offers different gear ratios but also length variants, so that there are endless possibilities for combinations and applications.
robolink® components are all available in our shop. This ensures that spare part supply is cost-effective, while also allowing you to replace only the individual parts as and when you need to. You can also benefit from the individual spare parts supply by using additional components in the automation process.
drylin® strain wave gears offer compact, easy-to-assemble, and grease-free performance through the use of igus® tribopolymer materials. The new drygear components feature optimized friction and backlash. Ideal for end-of-arm tooling/grippers on linear robots, articulated arms, and delta robot systems.
The planetary gearbox is impressive because of its very compact and lightweight design. It distributes the load over several gears, so it can transmit high torques. Its high-performance polymer ensures quiet, smooth operation while running a maxiumum drive speed of 700.0 rpm.
The external robolink® D rotary axis allows circular workpiece movements. They are also often called slewing rings, rotary indexing tables or rotary tables, and allow continuous transport to various stations in a single work step. The radius of robot action is extended, making robots much more flexible in their applications. The rotary axis is driven electromechanically by a stepper motor via a gearbox with 48:1 transmission.
robolink® joints are the moving connecting components between the individual connecting plates of the robot arm. For the gear wheels and slewing ring bearings of the joints, high-performance polymers that contain dry lubricants are used. If robolink® D joints are combined with a stepper motor, the latter ensures movement with a high degree of repeating accuracy, even in the case of applications involving spray water.
