drylin® linear actuators

Belt-driven, Screw-driven & Electric Linear Actuators

Converting rotary motion into grease-free linear motion is easier and more efficent with drylin® linear actuators. Our belt-driven and lead screw driven systems are designed with our highly engineered self-lubricating plastic linear bearing liners and do not require any external lubricants. drylin® linear actuators are also lightweight, dirt-resistant, maintenance-free and quieter than recirculating ball bearings.

Our lead screw-driven actuators are ideal for low-cycle positioning applications and are well-suited for moving heavy loads up to 25021N (5,625 lbs). We offer various lead screw diameters and materials, as well as stepper motors, DC motors, and hand wheel accessories

Our belt-driven systems are suitable for high-speed applications. drylin ZLW belt drives, for example, are rated for speeds up to 5m/s. Other benefits include long stroke lengths and no frictional heat issues. Whether used on its own as an individual system, or as part of a larger system like a gantry robot, ZLW linear actuators are ideal for confined spaces and applications requiring a high level of torque.

Finally, our stepper, DC, and EC motors can be easily paired with our linear actuators to electrify them for applications where an electric linear actuator is needed. Additionally, the lead screw configurator tool can make designing and choosing a complete electric system quick and easy.
Benefits:
●    Grease-free operation
●    Low-cost & lightweight
●    Wide selection of materials
●    Motors & drive controls available
●    Quieter than recirculating ball bearings

Industries:

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: What is a drylin® linear actuator?

A: A linear actuator changes the rotational motion of a motor into a straight line. drylin® linear actuators use drylin® linear plain bearing liners instead of recirculating ball bearings.

  • Q: What are the benefits of a drylin® linear actuator vs. a ball
    bearing actuator?

A: drylin® actuators are self-lubricating, maintenance-free, quieter, lighter, corrosion-resistant and delivered from stock.

  • Q: What materials are drylin® linear actuators made from?

A: Most standard series use aluminum rails, zinc carriages, plastic liners and stainless steel fasteners. We also offer 300-series stainless systems for corrosion-resistance, carbon-fiber for lightweight and non-magnetic applications, as well as low and high-temperature bearing and belt materials.

  • Q: How much axial load is a drylin® linear actuator capable
    of handling?

A:  We have various linear actuators to fit most needs, but static axial loads up to 75kg for belt-driven systems and up to 625kg for lead screw-driven systems.

  • Q: What speed can a drylin® linear actuator achieve?

A: Depending on dynamic loads, drylin screw-driven actuators are rated for between 200-1500rpm (depending on size), and up to 5m/s for the belt-driven tables. This is all dependent on load.

  • Q: Do you provide motors or manual accessories for
    your actuators?

A: Yes, igus offers Stepper/DC/BLDC motors and motor mounts for servo motors, as well as various thumbscrews, hand wheels, and 90-degree drives for manual applications

  • Q: Does igus offer motor controllers?

A: Yes, we offer a wide range of drylin Dryve® controllers for a wide range of DC, BLDC, and stepper motors.

  • Q: How to choose a drylin® linear actuator?

A: You can use our  online configuration tool or contact igus direct for in-person application support.

  • Q: Are drylin® linear actuators standard lengths or are they built
    to order?

A: Our systems are designed to be modular to meet the needs of most applications using off-the-shelf components

  • Q: How accurate are your drylin® linear actuators?

A: igus® lead screw-driven actuators have a linear positioning tolerance of +/-0.1mm, and belt-driven actuators are typically between +/- 0.2 and +/-0.35mm for single-axis systems. Please consult us directly as we may be able to provide more accurate systems depending on your application.

  • Q: What is the max stroke length for drylin® linear actuators?

A: This depends on the size, but our screw-driven actuators have max stroke lengths between 350mm-1250mm, and our belt-driven actuators between 1000-3000mm (for the most common series).

  • Q: What are some common industries drylin® linear actuators
    have been successfully used?

A: Lab and medical, automation machinery, marine, food processing, packaging, 3D printing, in-cabin use for off-highway, kiosk, AGV's and many other industries.
