the-chain: Research & development

"The magic is always in the details" (Theodor Fontane) – this is also true for energy chains. We are constantly developing and testing in continuous operating mode in our 18,840 sq. ft. (1,750 sq. m.) in-house igus® lab. This is where more than 14,000 tests are conducted each year. More than 2 billion test cycles are performed each year for chainflex® cables alone. In this industry, this lab is the largest of its kind and the key to 134 newly developed products in 2013 and hundreds of customer solutions that had their origins here.
A small sample of milestones that were attained on your behalf:

Development of the roller chain with drive force reduced by 75%

Development of the PPDS system for simple and continuous force monitoring on particularly long and complicated travels

Development of the Series E6 for low-vibration and quiet, smooth operation in high-speed applications

Development of the world's largest plastic energy chain (Series E4-350.)
