FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q:  What is igus® Robot Control?

A:  The igus® Robot Control is a control system that guides all robots offered by igus® (gantry robots, articulated arm robots and delta robots).

You can program and move your robot with the corresponding software, which is a PC-based graphical user interface. You can download and try out the software free of charge beforehand. The software has been specially developed to make the automation process as easy as possible. The 3D interface is user-friendly and intuitive to operate. The control system is available through a switch cabinet or on top-hat (DIN) rail assembly.

  • Q:  Which robots can I control with igus® Robot Control?

A:  The iRC was developed to control all three standard robots we offer - gantry robots, articulated arm robots and delta robots - with the same software and hardware.

  • Q:  How can I learn to program robots with igus® Robot Control?

A: We offer online igus Robot Control training courses on request. Fill out our contact form to receive your download of the igus Robot Control Software free of charge and with no obligation. You are welcome to get in touch with us at any time for any other assistance regarding programming.

  • Q:  What is the difference between the top-hat (DIN) rail and switch cabinet version?

A:  The top-hat (DIN) rail version serves the purpose of integrating your own switch cabinet, 10 metres of motor, encoder & INI cables, as well as all other joining links. The switch cabinet version completes the switch cabinet with emergency stop, power supply unit, 10 metres of motor, encoder & INI cables and all other joining links.

  • Q:  What does igus® Robot Control cost?

A:  That depends on whether it is the software or the hardware.

The software itself is completely free. You can fill out a contact form to receive your free software download here.

The cost of the hardware depends on various factors. igus Robot Control can control a single axis and up to 6 axes, with the option of also integrating vision systems and grippers. We also have two versions, a cabinet-mounted version and a DIN rail version for installation in the customer's cabinet. Request a price for igus Robot Control here
