Today, robots are an essential component of turnkey assembly plants in the automotive industry and perform demanding tasks. Triflex R multi-axis cable carriers provide the highest flexibility and the longest service life in applications even involving complex movements and are also installation friendly.
A worldwide provider of turnkey assembly plants for the automotive industry designed and constructed two assembly lines for a front and rear axle transmission respectively on behalf of a customer in the automotive supply industry. So far, eleven robots have been equipped with triflex® R cable carrier systems.
There are many technical reasons for using triflex® R multi-dimensional cable carriers designed specifically for robotic applications. They offer high flexibility and cable protection in complex movements even in the 6th axis: a rotation of about +/- 380° per meter in the longitudinal axis is possible. The ball-and-socket connection enables a high tensile strength absorption, which means flexible movements in all axes with a tested tensile strength of up to 526 lbs. triflex® R cable carriers are impact resistant, dirt repellent, rugged, wear resistant and chip proof. They glide around interfering edges and protect cables due to their smooth interior and exterior contour respectively.
Small bending radii and a small pitch mean triflex® R cable carriers save on space. Installing and uninstalling them is a simple process, since their modular design means they can be shortened or lengthened at any point. A universal assembly kit means the cable carrier system can be mounted on the robot and filled with cables in a very short time.
