Millions of plastic machine parts are used in devices, appliances and engines. Still, hardly any other material is as underrated in mechanical engineering as the plastic plain bearing. To demonstrate the potential of polymer bearing technology for innovative systems, the manus® competition was launched in 2003 - after more than 3,000 submissions, it is celebrating its 10th birthday this year.
The industrial applications of polymer plain bearings that are sought after and honoured stand out due to their technical, economic and ecological efficiency as well as the developer's creativity. The focus is on the technical superiority of plastic in mechanical engineering: where was it possible to solve a tedious problem, open up new possibilities or improve an application in the long term?
An independent jury of experts from research, specialist press and manufacturers will preside over the manus competition. They are looking for innovative applications with polymer plain bearings that prove to be creative.
