A hinge fitting into deck hatch gutter on super yachts

The hinge needed to be concealed when closed but the gutterrequired modifying to mount it. The solution was a combinationof slides and multiple pivot points to enable the hinge to fit intothe gutter.Currently exposed single pivot butt hinges cannot overcomedeck curvature whilst opening. Exposed stainless steel hingescan have slippery faces when the deck is wet and don't blend inwith the pattern of the teak deck. The life span of single pivothinges is 3-4 years."Using 3D CAD file downloads from the igus® website andreviewing the performance data of the various bearing andslide types to a salt water environment, I selected iglide® H,drylin® T and WSQ polymer bearings."
