The vector awards recognize unique applications with energy supply systems. These applications can be implemented with multifaceted cable carriers and cables. Modern plastic cable carriers have for 50 years ensured the safe, reliable supply of energy, data, signals, and media while remaining in continuous motion. They can be used universally, from cranes to machine tools, from industrial robots to laboratory technology. The cables and their carriers must be constantly reinvented to meet high demands, such as dynamic speeds, compact installation spaces, heavy additional loads, and cleanrooms. Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions called smart plastics prepare the cable carrier for Industry 4.0.

An independent panel of judges evaluates the projects participating in the vector awards. The judges will be looking for application solutions that have been implemented as industrial projects, are marked by technical and economic efficiency, and bold creativity. Only applications with plastic cable carriers and plastic hybrid solutions will be accepted. By participating, the competitor gives legally binding consent on the part of the participating company to any kind of report/advertising regarding the application.
The winners will be selected by an expert jury composed of members from the fields of science, Industrial fair, specialist media and associations and will be awarded at the 2022 Hannover Trade Show (April 25-29, 2022).
Submission Deadline: February 11, 2022
The gold vector award goes to Gildemeister Italiana S.p.A., an Italian company. 8 energy chains, 64 cables, and 73 hoses supply fluids, power, and signals to the rotating main drum, forming the cardiovascular system of a multi-spindle lathe.
The silver vector award goes to AlpinaTec Technical Products GmbH, an Austrian company. The "GESTRA" project is a specially developed, radar-based system for detecting and mapping space debris. A rotating energy supply system and a double chain system on both sides ensure reliable antennae supply.
The bronze vector award goes to Grenzebach Maschinenbau GmbH, a German company. The adjacent construction and media supply in the friction stir welding machine had to be as flexible as the welding head itself. The solution was a twisterband coupled with an R4 energy chain.
The green vector award goes to Drop Water Co, an American company. DropWater is a new sustainable beverage vending machine that fills compostable containers with customised beverages at the touch of a button. A harnessed readychain ensures reliable energy and data supply.
The green vector award goes to Huber SE, a German company. In a water treatment plant in Egypt, Huber SE uses solar energy to dry sewage sludge. The plant treats drinking water for 500,000 people.
The system uses 128 e-chains with a travel of 100 metres for energy supply.
