Thanks to the LNG HYBRID barge "Hummel" (a floating LNG power station from Becker Marine Systems) cruise ships can be supplied with power while at berth in Hamburg.
The barge is connected to the quay by a gangway - a complete solution from igus®. The igus® shore power gangway is used for the transfer of person from board to the quay. Additionally a cable management system is integrated into this gangway to deploy 4 heavy medium voltage cables with connectors.
After the gangway is docked and the e-chain® is deployed four heavy plugs are connected to the landside cabinet. The systems also adjust the movements of the barge, also the gangway moves up and down to compensate the movements caused by the tide, wind and waves - and that's up to 26 feet.
System:
Gangway with an integrated cable management system
Gangway can be adjusted in height and telescoped towards the quay
Automatic adjustment to tide changes and waves
e-chain® is deployed to plug the connectors on shore side
Certified by Bureau Veritas
Combines gangway function with cable management system
e-chain® deployment for heavy medium voltage cables with connectors
Cables are guided safely and secure within the e-chain®
Shore power solutions for container terminals
e-chain® cable carriers
chainflex® cables
More than three billion test cycles per year are carried out at a total of 180 testing stations.
