Polymer bearings used in oscillating
pendle axles for semi-trailers

Profile:

What was needed:
Plain bearings with and without flange, thrust washers

Requirements:
Highly resilient, weather-resistant bearing technology, with low maintenance requirements
Industry:
Construction machinery

Success for the customer:
Maintenance-free and reliable bearing points, plain bearings with predictable service life. Lead screw nuts for trapezoidal lead screws specifically developed for this application
Oscillating pendle axles for semi-trailers

Problem:

Bronze bearings were initially to be used in the oscillating axles of the semi-trailer. However, as these require additional lubricants, maintenance and servicing would have become very time-consuming.

Solution:

The use of iglide® G300 plain bearings as well as iglide® T500 thrust washers made the use of additional lubricants unnecessary and reduced maintenance and servicing to a minimum.

pulley module attached under excavator boom

Working at a depth of 65 meters

Ets Payant, a French company, produces a pulley module which is attached under an excavator boom and moves earth out of pits up to 65 meters deep. All components must withstand weather conditions, dust and severe impacts. That is why the design engineers used igubal® W300 double joints, iglide® P fixed flange bearings, iglide® G300 thrust washers, and drylin® R aluminum shafts.

The pulley module is designed for a conventional 40-ton hydraulic excavator and consists of a winch module and a hose reel. It weighs just under 7 tons and is attached to the boom of the excavator with a quick coupling system. In addition, there is the guide roller module, which is also attached to the end of the shovel of the bucket with a quick coupling system.

Used in underground railway construction

The excavator with pulley module is used, for example, in the construction of underground railway lines that pass underneath the already existing underground railway network. It is therefore used in urban areas and must therefore be as compact and easy to transport as possible. In fact, the dimensions in the transport position with the hose reels folded in are identical to those of the conventional excavator.

With its grab, the excavator can move large quantities of earth out of the underground tunnels and load a whole 5 tons of material in one swoop. Loads and forces acting on the machine are thus considerable. Added to this are the weather, strong vibrations and dust. The operating conditions for all components are therefore demanding.
