Winners of the 11th manus® competition for plastic bearing applications

We received more than 480 exciting, unique entries from 36 countries, from corrosion-free plain bearings and drylin linear guides for an exoskeleton with a high-pressure cleaner to a wheelchair with maintenance-free plain bearings that enable users to roll while standing up.

The panel of judges, consisting of industry and economy experts and representatives from the specialist press, was once more spoilt for choice. The four winners were selected in a multi-stage voting process at the beginning of March. This year, a green manus award will again be presented for a sustainable project.

To deliver liquid nitrogen fertiliser to the field, US-based J&M Manufacturing is developing what it calls a para-linkage coulter. To keep the coulter maintenance-free and, even more importantly, to prevent lubricants from getting into the ground, J&M Manufacturing uses iglidur plain bearings.

The food industry, landscaping, and agriculture: Those who work with high-pressure cleaners in industry are familiar with equipment that is so heavy that back pain is inevitable. Aufratech provides relief. The French company has developed EXO N, an exoskeleton for high-pressure cleaning tool users. The device uses iglidur plain bearings and drylin linear technology.

Fiedler Maschinenbau und Technikvertrieb GmbH
Fiedler Maschinenbau und Technikvertrieb GmbH is building a high-pressure cleaner for municipal vehicles that clean dirty streets, walkways, and squares. It uses side nozzles, a middle section, and electronically switchable high-pressure underfloor nozzles with high water pressure. What is special is that the high-pressure cleaner's working area can be changed at the touch of a button. To achieve this, Fiedler uses drylin linear technology.

No more lubricating: For balers, loader wagons, manure spreaders, tippers, and field sprayers, Rockinger Agriculture GmbH is developing a ball coupling called the KS80 using an iglidur® series high-performance plastic that igus® developed specifically for the company. The coupling consists of a coupling ball and claw installed in the height adjustment system.
