Unlike linear ball bearings that require hardened 420/440 stainless shafts, igus plain bearings run reliably on 304 or 316 stainless steel, which is better-suited for wet, saltwater environments. dryspin® lead screws and polymer nuts also excel in marine use, and together with linear slides can be supplied as complete bolt-on actuator systems with IP-65/68 NEMA stepper motors and 300-series stainless lead screws.
